An announcement has been made by Vidyo (News - Alert), a company that delivers personal telepresence, that it’s VidyoDesktop Executive has been recognized as the Collaboration award winner for the 2010 Best of Interop (News - Alert) Awards.
Held during this year’s Interop Las Vegas, the “Best of Interop” awards ceremony had the finalists being hand-selected by award-winning editors and analysts from InformationWeek Analytics. More than 100 candidates were in consideration for Best of Interop in nine different categories.
Ofer Shapiro (News - Alert), CEO and co-founder, Vidyo, said they were honored to be the recipient of a Best of Interop award for the second time. Vidyo had received the Best of Interop ‘Best Start-Up’ award for a technology promise to shake-up the videoconferencing market with a novel architecture two years ago. The company has received the Best of Interop award in Collaboration for delivering on this promise this year. The company’s assertion that the new architecture is causing a demonstrable shift in the videoconferencing market is strongly supported by the VidyoDesktop Executive.
He added that the VidyoDesktop Executive is simply the company’s software client running on a general purpose All-in-One computer, delivering superior functionality as compared to proprietary hardware devices that are more expensive. With this critical recognition, Vidyo will be able to lead the way to the future of video communications. He concluded that VidyoConferencing is an affordable software solution that runs on the Internet instead of expensive propriety devices and dedicated networks.”
Art Wittmann, managing director of InformationWeek Analytics said the Best of Interop Awards highlight the outstanding IT vendors of the industry. He added that this year’s Best of Interop was particularly exciting because of the strong competition seen in each category. He added the selected winners represent innovation in the marketplace. They deserve recognition for helping build the energy and growth of today’s IT Industry.
The VidyoDesktop runs on Mac and Windows-based laptop and desktop endpoints which complements Vidyo’s full line of HD room systems. The VidyoDesktop Executive leverages existing designs offered by a new breed of “all-in-one” computers, with its customized VidyoDesktop configuration.
