Polycom Announces UC Professional Services

Polycom, a provider of telepresence, video, and voice communications solutions, has announced a portfolio of Unified Communications (News - Alert) Professional Services.

Andrew Miller, executive vice president of global field operations at Polycom, said that Polycom UC Professional Services provide the proper planning and deployment to help the company’s customers maximize the benefits and value of their investments and deliver an accelerated return.

The portfolio will be delivered via Polycom (News - Alert) Global Services, Polycom Open Collaboration Network partners, and certified Polycom partners designed to help customers integrate Polycom voice and visual communications solutions into their UC environments.

Company officials said that the new services further the Polycom Open Collaboration Network strategy of providing open and interoperable collaboration solutions that give customers flexibility and investment protection for their UC environment.

In addition, Polycom UC Professional Services include several stages to meet specific customer needs and support internal IT resources, including Solution Planning & Design, Pilot Solution Deployment, and Full Solution Deployment services.

“We are seeing increasing customer demand for UC solutions and services that include real-time voice and visual communications,” said Mike Brandofino, executive vice president for Video and UC at AVI/APL, an integrator of audio and video systems and services.

Brandofino said that working with Polycom and leveraging A/V and systems integration expertise, AVI/SPL is able to deliver “best-in-class” voice and video solutions seamlessly into Microsoft (News - Alert) UC environments.

“We are able to support customer requirements from large and complex deployments that include UC platform, network and IT management application integration, to custom deployments that help organizations unify communication and collaboration across disparate systems and applications, and even leverage legacy equipment,” Brandofino said.

Polycom is working with prominent companies in UC and networking such as Avaya (News - Alert), BroadSoft, HP, IBM, Juniper, Microsoft and Siemens. In collaboration with these companies, the company is able to deliver its telepresence, video and voice collaboration products as an integrated part of core UC environments, making the technologies accessible as part of the everyday workflow within a comprehensive solution that can be provisioned and centrally managed.

According to officials, in response to customer demand, the first available service focuses on integration of Polycom solutions within Microsoft UC environments - integrating presence-based real-time IM, voice, video and data collaboration.

“Polycom has expanded the collaboration capabilities offered in Communications Server 2007 R2 to help customers realize higher productivity for their businesses,” said Yancey Smith, director of product management for Office Communication Server at Microsoft.
